Yes, I think I have a problem...

I LOVE chocolate...like I cannot even explain. Sometimes I have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all of the above...I know it is NOT good for me, but like I already mentioned, it is a problem. However I found chocolate that is not bad for me. Victoria's Secret has a series of Mood Slow Melt candles and in this series they have a CHOCOLATE candle! I think it is the best thing I have ever smelled, other than my boyfriend ;) It is not overwhelming, not too sweet at all. I had one a couple years ago and have not been able to find them in stores anymore. I recently found them on Ebay for half the original cost, only $13! So I ordered one for my mom and kept one for myself. I set mine out on the coffee table, at which I am always sitting, and I have not even lit it yet. It really just smells so delicious just sitting there. It is a non-stop chocolate fix. It is heaven, I really cannot explain how much I love this candle. So check it out, it would be a great gift for any chocolate lover :)

Has anyone seen this?!?!?

Tonite I want to share two of new favorite Aveda products. These are great ideas for yourself or would be perfect gift ideas with the holidays around the corner.

First item is Aveda's Himalayan Glow candle. It is a soy wax aroma candle with organic clove, vanilla, and cinnamon aroma. This candle smells amazing! It is very fragrant, but not overpowering. This aroma smells like the holidays! But wait, my favorite thing about this candle is not just the scent, but it doubles as a dry skin treatment. Yes mam. At the salon we give hand treatments all day with the wax from these candles, and let me tell ya, clients love it! First you light the candle and let it burn for a little bit, until the melted wax starts to pool up. Then, without touching the flame, dip your finger into the melted wax. The wax will be warm but not too hot to touch at all. Then rub the wax where ever needed, hands, feet, elbows, knees. It is very relaxing because the wax is warm, and very soothing from the soy wax. Plus, it leaves your skin smelling great! I love giving hand massages with this also because at the same time I am giving myself a moisture treatment :) So please check this out, it is wonderful. Just stop by your local Aveda store, or email me and I can get ya one and ship it for free! By the way, this candle is limited edition, so you can only get now before the holidays, but it comes in nice holiday packaging.

And my other new favorite item is Aveda's blue oil balancing concentrate.

This is a stress relieving oil that helps raise energy levels. Oh my gosh, this is like miracle oil. If you are feeling stressed out or tense, rub this oil on your temples or other pressure points like between your thumb and forefinger if you have a headache. This oil feels great on contact because it has peppermint, you will feel a cooling, tingling sensation. It actually has blue camomile for soothing and peppermint to refresh you. Or if you are feeling stressed, rub some on the palms of your hands, cup your hands together and place over your face covering your nose and mouth. Then inhale and exhale a few times, instant stress reliever! I am telling you this stuff works. I also give clients a neck and scalp massage with this oil, and everyone loves it, especially after a hard day's work. The blue oil is now in a convenient small size with a roller ball applicator. It easily fits in your pocket or purse.

I love these. I hope you check them out and enjoy them as much as I do.

Today is Puppers' Birthday!!!

Today you are ONE, a little boy you have become...

Seems like yesterday
Off for a road trip, we begun
Once we arrived, you just wanted to play
Our experience that day was a snip of what to come

So began our journey home
Forward on, life was not the same
Your preciousness sat there in Daddy’s lap, as the sun through the window shone
Fun & Laughter, Love & Joy, our memories from you…we have gained

We have never looked back
Life before you, we cannot recall
Together we live- this is our pack
Oh Puppers you are such a doll!

Today we give you lots of kisses
And for your life, all the best wishes!

Happy Birthday Babies!!!!

I am starting a new blog for him...
Shadeydays.blogspot.com

So later I will have his birthday celebration pics posted :)

This hot cocoa with a hint of peppermint is so yummy. Especially with the holidays right around the corner. I don't know why but peppermint is a Christmas time flavor for me. At Christmas I always make a peppermint pie, I will share the recipe when Christmas gets nearer. Anywho, try this cocoa it is very good. And I got it on sale because Linens and Things is going out of business, $7.99 for a tin. It would also be a nice addition to a holiday gift basket.

$7.49!!!!!

Check out my new bag I found at Target!!!! Like I have said before I am not into expensive bags, at all! I was perusing through Target and came across their fabulous bag....and then I checked the price tag...$7.49!?!?!? Right up my alley. I love chains on purses, I love the look of feminine mixed with a lil edgy. This bag is part of Target's own Limited Edition line. So I checked out their website and found some other nice, inexpensive bags.

Twilight Soundtrack

So I got the twilight soundtrack downloaded a few days ago and love it! It kinda has a dark edge to the songs, but also very fun in a way. The cd rocks. Edward rocks. Bella rocks. The movie will be here in 13 days! Not much to say, but I love it!!! At work, we watch the trailer everyday and today we just left the soundtrack playing in our breakroom...also a co worker donated her Edward and Bella poster to the breakroom, so that we may ALL enjoy it. Yes, we are obsessed...but for good reason. It's Twilight c'mon...if you have read you would understand.

Fall

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Man, today is a beautiful day!!! I was driving back from the grocery with the windows down, enjoying the colors and the fragrant smell of the Autumn leaves, what a GREAT day it is!!! So at the grocery I found a new snack( I know its always about food with me). If you haven't tried TRUENORTH brand nut snacks, you definitely should. These are the ones I have always enjoyed...

And then today I came across a new flav-o-flav, they are ALMOND CRANBERRY VANILLA CLUSTERS
. They must be so new that they do not have them posted on their site yet. They are yum-o! Check em out.

Here are some pics of me and puppers today enjoying this beautiful fall day on the back porch...

That's me :)

Preciousness!!! He will be 1yr old in 5 days, gosh he is growing up sooo quick!

Puppers was there a second ago...

And a quick smooch, before he runs off again...

~!Bon Appetit!~

Well I have never been much of a cook. But lately, I am on a cooking kick. I cook on my off days, and I wake up excited to go searching for a new recipe to try. I work a couple late nights a week, which on those nights I do not get to cook :( I wish I could be home every evening to cook some yummy dishes...who knows, maybe a career change is in my near future that will allow me to do this(fingers crossed). So I am always looking for new websites or blogs with easy recipes to share. Which, let me mention, when I say I cook, I do not mean all Martha Stewart like. I mean easy, few ingredient recipes that don't take too long to make and are yummy! So I wanted tos hare one of my new favorite sites...

www.campbellkitchen.com

This site has easy recipes that use Campbell's soups. They post new weekly recipes and recipes under $10...very practical cooking. You can create an online recipe box or you can print out the recipes in various formats, text only, with pics, recipe card format, or recipe keepsake format. which will lead me to my next craft project...either creating a crafty recipe book with all my favorites or a cute little recipe box. I am very excited. The cooking is not just about the cooking, its about making it fun and cute and adding your personal touch. So what's for dinner tonite you ask?

NOVEMBER 21, 2008...the countdown has begun...

I get chills just watching the trailer...Edward is so stinkin HHHHOOOOOOTTTT also...

One of my favorite snacks!!!

Monday, October 27, 2008

No recipe here, just some yummy snacking...

Take two Cracked Pepper & Olive Oil Triscuits and in between place a piece of Cheddar cheese, White Vermont Sharp Cheddar is my cheese of choice, and enjoy. These little triscuit sandwiches are addcitive and yummy!

I am showing my true colors here...I have always LOVED cars, mainly Mustangs and Monster Trucks :) My family is not into this kinda of stuff and have no idea where the love came from?!?! Well with this being said, I have never been to a Nascar race, nor have I ever really watched one on tv, other than just flipping through. I always thought Nascar races were an excuse to nap! I heard though once you went to a Nascar race you would be HOOKED! They were right!!! I begged my boyfriend to get
tickets to the Pepboys 500 that was here at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday and he came through- SCORE! So FREE tickets in hand, off to the races we went. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really can not put into words HOW much I enjoyed it. As the cars lined the track and began to get into formation, I got goosebumps(my eyes are watering just thinking about it). We sat at turn 3. As the cars passed by, the engines roared in the stands and the fumes hazed the air, I actually love that smell...mmm. Fans took off their hats to salute and wave as the cars drove by, forming their lineup. The lineup was formed and the race was beginning. The cars sped past the start line and the race BEGAN! My boyfriend turned to me in excitement that the race had started and I had tears in my eyes!! I couldn't help it, it was so overwhelming for me to be there and part of that. The cars sped past for the first lap and the whole crowd was cheering. Now I thought surely through 500 laps I may get a little bored, I did not. I loved every minute of it. Next time though I will dress a lil warmer, it is actually very cool in the stands with the cars breezing past. At one point I got up to go to the concession, I was soooo close to the track. It just so happened as we were passing by that a car hit the wall, I was not wearing my sunglasses and got debris in my eye! It may sound horrible to you, but I was very proud...I told my boyfriend with a huge grin on my face, 'I just got DEBRIS in my eye...that was awesome!'

So I do not have a driver that I follow, but by default of my boyfriends driver, I am a Carl Edwards fan. So we were extremely excited to have our man Carl win the cup at the first and only race we have been to.

Carl does back flips off his car when he wins...how could you not cheer for that?!?!

Also in his interview after the race, he was asked about his "good luck charm" he got from a kid named Dalton from the Children's hospital here in atlanta and this is his response...he is such a great man...tear...

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE NECKLACE FROM THE KID AT THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL? “Yeah, it was really cool. I’ve still got it on – this necklace here. Dalton, this really cool kid, we went to the Aflac Cancer Center at the Children’s Hospital in downtown Atlanta. As everybody knows, there’s a lot of people that give a lot in this sport and I didn’t realize how much Aflac does for all these kids. They don’t turn one kid away. They treat everyone, regardless of whether they can pay or not. They treat a lot of children and they cure 70 percent of the kids that come in there with cancer, so they can go on and live regular lives and succeed at whatever they want to do. Dalton was really cool. David Gilliland and myself went through the hospital and we had a really good time and at the end Dalton said, ‘Hey, I’ve got this courage necklace and I get the beads for everytime I come to the hospital and have a visit or do something – a surgery or something like that’ – he said, ‘I want you to wear it. I think it will be good luck on Sunday. He definitely said he wants it back after this race, which is too bad because I think it worked.”

It was truly an awesome experience for me...here are a few pics...

:::So excited just to be here:::

:::Turn 3:::

:::Welcome to the Speedway:::

:::Here they come!:::

:::Close up:::

:::So focused, he loved it also:::

So if you ever have a chance to attend a Nascar race, I highly recommend going...at least once!

Blue eyeshadow?!?!Oh yeah!

Friday, October 10, 2008

This is my recently favorite eyeshadow! It is so inexpensive at $3.99 a pop, and I get to use it as 3 separate shades. Or you can blend all the colors together to make a cool blended color. The color is subtle but rich and lasts 3/4 of the day...not too shabby for the price. I really just love the sea blue color it has! I have never worn blue because I didn't want to be that blue eyeshadow-ed, red lip stick lady, remember like in My Girl? Anyways, it's a fav of mine now :)

Perfect timing...

I will not die an unlived life

I will not die an unlived life,
I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire,
I choose to inhabit my days,
To allow my living to open me,
To make me more accessible,
To loosen my heart until it becomes a wing,
A torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance;
To live so that what comes to me, as seed,
Goes to the next as blossom,
Then goes on to bear fruit.

Dawna Markova.

Today I attended a class, the speaker ended with this poem. It just reminded me that I am afraid of life. Partially because I was brought up this way, and second because I obviously choose to continue to live this way. Not that I want to, but I do. During this class today I realized something had to change. We have a choice, we write our own story. I know what I want my new story to be, it is just a matter of the follow through. I believe we are here for a purpose, we just have to listen to our hearts and discover this purpose. For me it is a matter of getting my head to shut up so I can hear my heart, my spirit, my soul. I know where I am is not where I want to be, I believe there is more for me, it is a process though, a journey. A journey I begin today. I found that this poem is from Markova's memoir, I Will Not Die an Unlived Life. It seems when you are in need of something, it will be given to you. I believe I heard this poem for a reason, I was in need. Memoirs are my favorite read, I always gain inspirations from others' lives. I plan to read this book next. The poem brought tears and was a soul shaker for me, I am anxious to read her story...

I WANT this purse! Lucky Brand Jeans Velvet Patchwork Tote-$98...this may not sound like much money to spend on a purse to the purse junkies out there, but it's alot for me. I am a cheapo and usually only spend like 20 bucks...so this one is going on the Christmas list. Hint hint :)

Big Sexy Hair

This is my favorite hairspray! As much of an Aveda junkie that I am, I am not a fan of their hairspray. So I found this one! It smells great, does not leave your hair feeling stiff, and its a volumizing spray that is firm yet flexible and adds a great shine to your hair. I love it!

PISTACHIO BLOOM

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

I recently purchased this lovely apron to wear at jewelry craft fairs, although it could be used for many different purposes if you are not in the craft scene, gardening, yard sales, waitressing. I received it yesterday and I know it will be worth every penny. It was very affordable at $22. It is handmade with a zip-secured pocket for the cash; 2 ample, easy-to-access pockets for namecards, pens, mobiles and the like;and a handy & sturdy loop for hanging keys or tools finished with a vintage button. It can be found at www.RumahKampung.etsy.com

I am hooked...

Monday, September 29, 2008

Okay, I didn't want to give in and read the book that everyone else was reading, it is usually not my style, but I did. I stood there in Target searching for a book and Twilight kept starring at me. I couldn't resist anymore, so I bought it...Friday afternoon. It is now Monday evening, and I have finished the 500 page book. WoW! I would have finished it earlier, I could have finished it probably in a day or two had I not had life going on. So here I share just some thoughts, opinions, questions...

This book was a very easy read. The 500 pages intimidated me at first, but once I began the story I could not put it down!!!
The descriptions in this book played out like a movie in my mind---there will be a movie this Fall, although I refuse to watch the trailer because I do not want it to ruin my reading experience.
I very much relate to Bella, always feeling a little odd, out place, like my mind did not work like others' did, clumsy, not easily romantically attached to guys. Edward makes my heart melt. I know it is a fictional story, but to me, what makes a good story is when I feel the characters almost become real in my life. I admire Edward and his family for the life that they lead and the strong will power they have to resist what is in their true nature. I believe the vampire lifestyle can be compared somewhat to the human life. There are always things that we love, that are hard to resist, but could be the end of us if we continued to give into them. Edward and Bella's love story began like many of ours do, he was attracted to her "scent". It was a strong pull to her that he could not resist, even though he tried. For anyone that has fallen in love, you know...you are drawn to certain people, sometimes not knowing why at first. There is just something there, something often indescribable for words. When two people are in love with each other, that is one of the best feelings in the world, and you would do anything to hold onto that connection, that person forever. But to want to sacrifice your human life to become a vampire to be with that person forever, that is a huge sacrifice. Man, that would be a tough decision! One of my favorite lines is this book...

"That's the beautiful thing about being human," he told me. "Things change."

This line stopped me. I tend to be a creature of habit, I like routine, I like a schedule, I like familiarity, and when I find something or someone I like, I tend to hold onto it. I get anxious about change, although I change my mind about everything about 100 times a day! When I read this line though it really made me think. Could I spend eternity doing the same thing everyday. Never changing, never growing old. At times it seems like this would be a great alternative to hold onto to our life and people forever, to avoid awkwardness, sadness, anxiety, change...but then I realized change is not necessarily a bad thing. We grow and learn from change. And it is also comforting to be reminded that when things are bad, things will change. "Things change."

This book could be intense at times, which I loved. The intensity of their conversations, their looks, the situations Bella always ended up in. I was on edge when she was being followed by the four guys on the empty street, and then at just the right moment Edward was there to save the day. I melt just remembering the scene. And when Edward REALLY saved her after the attack from the Tracker, Edward took a HUGE risk by sucking the venom from her blood. That really took strength and proved his love for her. I can see why she wants to be a vampire ;)

I love it that Edward insisted on it being known to her family and his that she was his girlfriend. She was nervous to meet the Cullens, not because she was afraid of them attacking her but for fear they would not approve of her. Of course they love her because Edward loves her...awwww.

I have so much I could say about this book, I truly enjoyed every minute of it. I am anxious to begin New Moon...

Twilight

Friday, September 26, 2008

I have jumped on the bandwagon! I had to. In the break room at work it is like everyone is speaking a foreign language, chatting it up about these Stephanie Myer books, geez! I never got into Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, any of the mythical stories. From what I hear though, this one involves a love story. I am a sucker for a love story. And since we are taking a road trip this weekend, I figured this would be the best time to begin the series. 5-8 hours in the car, I can only beat my boyfriend so many times at the alphabet game ;) So today I begin Twilight. I hate to admit it, but I am kinda excited about this read...I hope it isn't disappointing
...

What a FLIRT!

I have found a new-well, new to me- makeup line. It is called FLIRT and it can be found at Kohl's. It is very afforadable,
especially since Kohl's is always having a
sale. So far I have bought

BRING ON THE BRONZE™
Bronzing Powder
size .28oz / 8g
suggested retail price $12.00
Give skin a tantalizing summer glow all year long.

I'M WHIPPED™
Eyeshadow Mousse
size .08 oz./ 2.4g
suggested retail price $12.00
Whipped and creamy, soft and shimmery…cream color that leaves eyes gleaming.

PLUSHIOUS™
Liquid Velvet Lipcolor
size .2oz / 6mL
suggested retail price $10.00
A liquid lipcolor that applies like a gloss but covers like a lipstick for incredible color intensity with a shellac shine finish.

OPENING LINE™

Liquid Eyeliner
size .11oz / 2mL
suggested retail price $11.00
This liquid eyeliner draws on easily to line and define the eyes with a variety of shades and finishes.

I LOVE all of them! The bronzer gives my PALE skin a nice natural glow. The mousse shadow is great alone, but I mainly bought it as a primer for my loose powder shadows. Having an eye primer helps the shadow to last longer on your lids, and show a truer color. The liquid liner is surprisingly easy to use. My favorite of all the products so far is their lip gloss. It feels so smooth on your lips, not sticky at all! The color is great, especially for a gloss...I just LOVE it. Right now Kohl's is having a Buy One Get One Half Sale on the Flirt makeup. I will be stocking up :)

I Smell Divine!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

This has to be my all time favorite perfume. I received a bottle a few years ago as a gift and loved it. Of course I always want to try new things, so as my bottle ran empty I opted to try a new scent. So over the past few years I have tried many different perfumes, I am a perfume junkie and can almost always recognize a scent. Over the years I had kinda forgotten about DK's Cashmere Mist. Until the other day, I met my best friend for lunch and she smelled lovely! So today I ran out to the department store and picked up a bottle, along with splurging on way too many other beauty products. Now I smell lovely too! Gosh, I can't stop smelling myself!!!! I know I probably look odd doing this, but at least I smell great! I think I will always own a bottle of this for now on!

Here is a description of the scent, if you can imagine...I love all the scents individually that they combined to make this one...read on...

CASHMERE MIST perfume by DONNA KARAN was launched in 1994. CASHMERE MIST DONNA KARAN is inspired by a soft, sensual feeling of cashmere against bare skin. CASHMERE MIST DONNA KARAN is an intensely feminine scent infused with blends of lily of the valley, suede, bergamot, ylang-ylang, and jasmine maroc. This fragrance seduces the senses with hints of sandalwood, orris, amber, vanilla, cedarwood, patchuouli and musk.

Traveling Tunes

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

OH yeah...I am responsible for downloading and creating a mixed cd or two for our weekend trip. So I need some suggestions for any good traveling tunes. Music that will keep you awake while driving 5+ hours at a time. We like a wide variety of music, new, old, rock, country, whatever. Any good recommendations?!?!

What a Treat!

So I get excited about food...does that count as an eating issue?!? This weekend we are headed out of town to Kentucky/Ohio(to me it's all the same)to visit family, friends, and enjoy some football. First, I must say I am excited to have 2-day work week, why can't all weeks be this great? B., I am excited because when traveling to visit the fam, I always get to eat two of my FAVORITE restaurants, that we do not have here in Atlanta. They are...

-and-

Bob Evans has yummy, artery-clogging, biscuits and gravy...mmmmm, I can taste it already!

Skyline chili has a different taste than any other chili I have had before. I don't know what their secret ingredient is, maybe cinnamon, but it is fantastic. I always get a coney and a three way, which consists of spaghetti, chili, and cheese. Gosh, why do I get so excited about food?!?!

So even though this is a find I discovered when I was about 7, or old enough to remember, I felt it was definitely worth sharing. If you are ever out and about and come across one of these places, check them out!

Across the Universe

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

WOW! What a fantastic film. I never knew how much I love Beatle songs. This is a film I will watch again and again. It is a great story, a love story between two and a great story for standing up for what you believe in. Great visuals, great music...I can't wait to watch it again, I am off to buy my own copy now. And I wonder if I can buy a soundtrack that has all 33 songs played during the movie?!?...

Fringe

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

So this seems to be the new show to be seen for fall. I have not seen the previous episodes, so I will have to get caught up online. I watched tonite's and I am very intrigued. At first it gave me a bit of anxiety, but I have to tell myself that it could not really happen...right?!?! Is anyone watching this? I have so many questions and will have to read up on it. I will definitely be watching this one, Tuesdays 9pmeastern. I will have more to share when I figure out what the heck is going on...oh yeah it has this hottie...

MMM...Beards!

Monday, September 15, 2008

I don't know about y'all...but I LOVE a guy with a beard...they are HOTTTT! This is definitely a FF for me. So, I thought I would post a few pics of my favorites today. I am hoping my boyfriend will grow his back out this fall, and I would love to post his pic with a beard, but he probably would not be too keen on it ;) So for now just drool over these hotties.
