A poem for thought

Body and Shadow

I would like my shadow
should follow me
beyond twilight
and into the night
so we could talk
about the difference
between
who I think I am,
who I am
and who I'd like to be
without any accusations
of the light
as sinister and revealing
my darker self
to a Christ-starved world.

I would like to ask
where shadows go
when the sun sneaks away
to reveal
the universe
beyond the blue sky
and what do shadows do
while we sleep
and dream of where
shadows might take us
if we followed them
into the night.

But my shadow won't face me
and in turn
I won't face myself
Because even
in the blue light of day
I hide behind
who everyone thinks I am
and my shadow is so ashamed
that he refuses to show his face
or maybe
he just mimics me.

Love on the Inside

Okay, okay...I know not everyone is a country music fan, but if you are you can appreciate my love for Sugarland's newest cd...EVERY song is great great great. I really can't narrow down a favorite...I love the bonus tracks on the cd and i love the lyrics of 'We Run', Amazon's cut by cut description...

New love. Young love. Green love. There’s an excitement to that experience that Sugarland has captured in this intoxicating bluegrassy rocker. Nettles admits this grew from a seed of an idea that Bush had, since he grew up playing mountain music in Tennessee. And this song lends itself to that Appalachian sound, that driving four-on-the-floor beat. You can’t really describe that feeling, so the duo chose to show it rather than tell it. The imagery--of pockets of dirt and reckless weather on the breath--convey how beautiful, messy and powerful love can be.

And at the very least, I think Jennifer Nettles is so stinkin' cute...she would have to be my female crush...

Give books away. Get books you want. I don't know about you, but I have a gazillion(loved ones may say that's an understatement) books. Now, I must say some of them I will hold onto because I love to revisit them. Some, on the other hand, I either never finished reading, and do not intend to, or have no desire to revisit them and these books are the ones just collecting dust. Plus, I have a LIST of books I would like to read. My list of books to buy does not always fit into my budget though, and frankly the idea of checking out books at the library and having to RETURN them by a certain date does not thrill me. This is a great site that will allow you to swap books with others. You post books you would like to get rid of and find books form others doing the same. How did I not know about this sooner?!!?
