I am showing my true colors here...I have always LOVED cars, mainly Mustangs and Monster Trucks :) My family is not into this kinda of stuff and have no idea where the love came from?!?! Well with this being said, I have never been to a Nascar race, nor have I ever really watched one on tv, other than just flipping through. I always thought Nascar races were an excuse to nap! I heard though once you went to a Nascar race you would be HOOKED! They were right!!! I begged my boyfriend to get
tickets to the Pepboys 500 that was here at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday and he came through- SCORE! So FREE tickets in hand, off to the races we went. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really can not put into words HOW much I enjoyed it. As the cars lined the track and began to get into formation, I got goosebumps(my eyes are watering just thinking about it). We sat at turn 3. As the cars passed by, the engines roared in the stands and the fumes hazed the air, I actually love that smell...mmm. Fans took off their hats to salute and wave as the cars drove by, forming their lineup. The lineup was formed and the race was beginning. The cars sped past the start line and the race BEGAN! My boyfriend turned to me in excitement that the race had started and I had tears in my eyes!! I couldn't help it, it was so overwhelming for me to be there and part of that. The cars sped past for the first lap and the whole crowd was cheering. Now I thought surely through 500 laps I may get a little bored, I did not. I loved every minute of it. Next time though I will dress a lil warmer, it is actually very cool in the stands with the cars breezing past. At one point I got up to go to the concession, I was soooo close to the track. It just so happened as we were passing by that a car hit the wall, I was not wearing my sunglasses and got debris in my eye! It may sound horrible to you, but I was very proud...I told my boyfriend with a huge grin on my face, 'I just got DEBRIS in my eye...that was awesome!'

So I do not have a driver that I follow, but by default of my boyfriends driver, I am a Carl Edwards fan. So we were extremely excited to have our man Carl win the cup at the first and only race we have been to.

Carl does back flips off his car when he wins...how could you not cheer for that?!?!

Also in his interview after the race, he was asked about his "good luck charm" he got from a kid named Dalton from the Children's hospital here in atlanta and this is his response...he is such a great man...tear...

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE NECKLACE FROM THE KID AT THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL? “Yeah, it was really cool. I’ve still got it on – this necklace here. Dalton, this really cool kid, we went to the Aflac Cancer Center at the Children’s Hospital in downtown Atlanta. As everybody knows, there’s a lot of people that give a lot in this sport and I didn’t realize how much Aflac does for all these kids. They don’t turn one kid away. They treat everyone, regardless of whether they can pay or not. They treat a lot of children and they cure 70 percent of the kids that come in there with cancer, so they can go on and live regular lives and succeed at whatever they want to do. Dalton was really cool. David Gilliland and myself went through the hospital and we had a really good time and at the end Dalton said, ‘Hey, I’ve got this courage necklace and I get the beads for everytime I come to the hospital and have a visit or do something – a surgery or something like that’ – he said, ‘I want you to wear it. I think it will be good luck on Sunday. He definitely said he wants it back after this race, which is too bad because I think it worked.”

It was truly an awesome experience for me...here are a few pics...
